MMISoftware has just released a very very minor update to PhotoGPSEditor to correct a small bug introduced in version 1.5.3 which was released yesterday (read post). The bug (an unfortunate little so-and-so that slipped through the net) was very rare and would cause a crash at program start if, and only if, you had a photo that had ‘saved’ details in PhotoGPSEditor and that had then been moved (basically the program was running a check to make sure everything was where it had been left at quit and was throwing a ‘tizzy’ if it couldn’t find what it wanted!).

Over the years we have used a range of methods, including incremental backups to CDs and DVDs, but our current preferred method is to backup to external hard-drives and then remove them to a safe place…

A number of users have emailed MMISoftware about how the ‘map marker’ is used in the PhotoInfoEditor and PhotoGPSEditor. Although both programs use ‘markers’ to get latitude and longitude information, and to show, on a map, where the photos are taken, the latitude and longitude data produced is used differently.

Just a quick note to say that MMISoftware has added another option to allow users of PhotoInfoEditor and PhotoGPSEditor to make donations to support the development of (PhotoInfoEditor Donation | PhotoGPSEditor Donation).

Over at TUAW they have an interesting piece on how a weak dollar ($) and strong UK pound (£) makes iPods in the UK look really expensive, i.e. £190 in the UK, when the price in the US is £128 (I bet they haven’t taken sales tax in to account). Conversely, the strong pound (and Euro) makes MMISoftware software cheap! So now is the time to buy! (Or make a donation!)
