There is a good tip over at Apple on how to view the exif (meta-data) of a photo that you have tagged with PhotoGPSEditor or PhotoInfoEditor. Such a simple tip, and something I do everyday without thinking about.

Just been doing some work in which we needed to parse some data in the thesnowsite.com database. Basically, the problem was to take the data and then do a series of ‘internal’ consistency and comparison checks. Essentially there were several hundred pieces of data needed to be compared against themselves.

This evening I was digging around the MMISoftware server and stopped by the logs to see what was going on and to look for any ongoing problems that needed attention, such as broken links etc. Anyway, I took a quick look at the download data for PhotoInfoEditor and PhotoGPSEditor.

Mac OS X 10.4.9 has just been released and the good news is that the Mac now supports the a Sony GPS CS1 [Amazon Link] unit.

It appears that there is some good news, and some bad news, with the latest update of iPhoto (to 6.0.6). The good news is it supports latitude and longitude data and doesn’t destroy the data on editing. The bad news is, iPhoto still doesn’t seem to support user comments and information added to photos, it can’t be displayed, and is lost on export.

This is a good question – how many active Mac users are there?

One of MMISoftware’s clients wanted to set up a BT Home Hub (business service) in their office to use with their Macs. (The reason they wanted to do this was because they had been using one.tel (now part of Carphone Warehouse) and had experienced persistent outages and couldn’t get anyone at one.tel to fix it). So the order was placed and within a couple of days a box arrived containing the wireless hub, a CD and some phone connectors, and within the week the line was active.

Interesting keynote at Macworld this year. As a developer I was waiting for information on Leopard (10.5), iLife and possibly a new laptop (or two), but what did we get? The love-child of a mobile-phone and a PDA!

Seems this ‘Leopard only’ apps thing is getting some discussion.

I posted about it a few weeks ago after reading a blog article about how TextMate (the piece), would be Leopard (10.5) only.
