To develop for the iPad, or not to develop for the iPad…. that is the questions.

Initially MMISoftware was not going to start developing of the iPad until the summer. Why? Well, there were enough projects on the go, and the summer was the first free period of time available. However, that has changed…

Last week a project was cancelled, and this has freed up most (apart from meetings) of next week… Initially other projects (where possible) were going to be bumped forward a week, and then this email arrived….

iPad Development

The Apple ‘tease’ email..

Basically:

  • Build and test your iPad app using iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 5 available on the iPhone Dev Center. Only iPad apps built with iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 5 will be accepted for this initial review.
  • Upload your distribution signed app through iTunes Connect by Saturday, March 27, 5pm PDT.
  • The App Review Team will review your app on iPad and email you details about the readiness of your app.
  • You will also receive additional information about submitting your app for final review before iPad ships.
  • Only apps submitted for the initial review will be considered for the grand opening of the iPad App Store.

So, there it is, the challenge. Can I (as I am the only one working on the challenge) get something written, built and submitted to the iTune App store by Saturday, March 27, 5pm PDT?

This gives me just over 1 week (well, 1 week + a few hours)…. gonna be tough…

During this challenge I will be blogging about the process (where the non-disclosure agreement allows (NDA)), and how things are going… So stay tuned…

First task – download and install the iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 5
