Day 1 of the iPad Challenge: Downloading and installing the iPhone SDK
OK, an easy start… downloading and installing… not exactly difficult…
As a registered iPhone developer I have access to the latest iPhone SDK so it was just a case of hopping over to the developers centre, downloading the installer (2.5 GB) and running it…
This of course does mean that the machine being used for the install can’t be used for any other development work as the final build of any programs would not be ‘correct’.
First problem… insufficient disk space! Opps…. (OK, so the hard-drive is full of rubbish, time for a spring clean.) The disk isn’t really full, it is just that the installer doesn’t take in to account it will be deleting all the currently installed developer tools.
According to the install ‘timer’ the install of the SDK is going to take 1 hour 45 minutes… During the wait I am working in the interface design using OmniGraffle…
Actually, the installation took 50 minutes. The new version of Xcode is ready to go.
[...] Odd. I am using the latest version of the SDK, in fact I only downloaded it and installed at the weekend – see earlier post. [...]
