Day 1 of the iPad Challenge: 9 hours of coding – where does the App stand? (Plus comments and screen shots…)
Well, it has been a fun few hours of hard core coding… so, where does iPad App stand?
The first big surprise is how easy it has been (famous last words). Basically, what I am doing is porting one of our iPhone Apps (bodyCal – home page – download) to the iPad…
Why port? Doesn’t iPad run iPhone Apps?: Well, yes, iPad will run iPhone Apps, but with all that extra screen space you would be nuts not to try and think of something that can be done with it… So, the day has been spent setting up the new iPad user interface, and importing the bodyCal code base… it has been a breeze…
bodyCal on the iPhone is a great little App for calculating your body mass index (BMI) and basal metabolic rate (BMR)
So, what to do with all that space?
What shall I do with all the extra space?
Everything is working great in the calculator part of the App, it is just a question now of finding something to do with all the extra space….
(By the way, if you are wondering why I decided to write yet another BMI App it is a sort of tradition. Whenever I am learning a new programming environment, or learning how to code for a new device, I always write a BMI App. Well, it beats ‘Hello World’.)
