New Body Mass Index calculator for the iPhone
MMISoftware has just released a new Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator for the iPhone and iPod Touch (calculator home page | App Store)
bmiPounds is an ‘Imperial’, that is, feet and inches for height, and weight in pounds, BMI calculator. You just enter your height and weight and the calculator will work out your BMI, give you your ideal weight range, and tell you if you are over or underweight.

Your BMI is calculated using a fairly simple formula and the number returned is often used as an indicator of ‘health’. There are data that do show that if your BMI is above, or below, certain values then there can be a direct impact on your heath, however, the calculation fails for the ‘professionally fit’ (e.g. athletes with high muscle mass), the young and the elderly.
Features:
- easy input of figures
- uses pounds, feet and inches
- displays ideal weight range
- if overweight calculates required weight loss
- if underweight calculates required weight gain
The calculator is free, and is supported by advertisements, and available on the App Store.
