This is an odd one… I am looking for some software for creating an image map…

Do you remember image maps? They were very popular on the web about 10 years ago, basically menus etc. were created out of images and then image maps (imagemaps) were produced so that when a region of the image was clicked on you were taken to another page, or when the mouse passed over the marked region a message was displayed….

Well, I haven’t created an image map for some time and I now have a need to produce one… and can I find some software to do the job? No! Nothing… (Well, I have found three programs, but they are quite frankly disappointing.) A few years ago (OK, pre-Mac OS X days), there seemed to be a bunch of programs around that would do the job… now nothing.

The last time I produced an image map I used GoLive, but that is ‘overkill’ for what I now need, plus I switched to Coda some time ago for managing/editing websites as I was fed up the poor performance of GoLive on the Mac (and the awful html the program produced).
