Wikipedia and Geocoding
Just received an email from a user (I don’t know if they use PhotoInfoEditor or PhotoGPSEditor) alerting me to the addition of PhotoGPSEditor to a Wikipedia page on geocoding.

Introducing PhotoIcon
MMISoftware has just released PhotoIcon (download), which is a small free program to add thumbnail image icons to photo files.
Two clicks from photo data
There is a good tip over at Apple on how to view the exif (meta-data) of a photo that you have tagged with PhotoGPSEditor or PhotoInfoEditor. Such a simple tip, and something I do everyday without thinking about.
AuctionAds and MMISoftware

Firefox feedback
Over at Ars Technica they report that over at iamthewalr.us they are asking, on behalf of the Firefox, for feedback to help development of the next Mac version. (Is this circular of what?)
Server down!!
Opppsss, the server was down for 30 minutes this morning (just come back up). The server was running, and could be pinged, but for some reason was refusing http requests. No idea what the cause was and that was most unlike UK2.net (they host the server) to have problems.
Fun and games with backups
Backing up is a serious business. And at MMISoftware we like to keep backups of, well, everything. Over the years we have used a range of methods, including incremental backups to CDs and DVDs, but our current preferred method is to backup to external hard-drives and then remove them to a safe place…
Markers in PhotoGPSEditor and PhotoInfoEditor
A number of users have emailed MMISoftware about how the ‘map marker’ is used in the PhotoInfoEditor and PhotoGPSEditor. Although both programs use ‘markers’ to get latitude and longitude information, and to show, on a map, where the photos are taken, the latitude and longitude data produced is used differently.
