News and views of Mac OS X and iPhone Programming

Well, yesterday I posted on the use the zoom button and markers in PhotoGPSEditor and PhotoInfoEditor. And looking back on some of the emails I have received about the maps in PhotoGPSEditor and PhotoInfoEditor, since the programs were released, I decided to revisit the use of maps and the underlying code.

I now have a solution that I think works for the ‘Map Zoom’ problem (see earlier post). It basically means more work for the sever (i.e. it has to send back the zoom data), but it does mean that standard Google Map controls can be used, plus ‘zoom-on-double-click’, can be used. As an added bonus of this work the ‘map re-draw’ problem has been solved (see this post).

This solution had to be implemented at the server level, and also within the code of PhotoGPSEditor and PhotoInfoEditor, and therefore will be rolled in to the next releases of the two programs (which in the case of PhotoGPSEditor should be within the next week or so, and in PhotoInfoEditor shortly after).

PhotoInfoEditor and PhotoGPSEditor are freeware programs from MMISoftware – continued development can be supported by making donations (PhotoInfoEditor Donation | PhotoGPSEditor Donation), or purchases at the MMISoftware GPS and camera stores.

Both programs are available for download:
