A new version of PhotoGPSEditor has been released. This is a very minor update to address a couple of small problems. There was a last minute bug introduced in version 1.5 that urgently needed to be corrected, namely, the ability to show an enlarged version of a photo.

The other change was the result of some feedback from users. A number of users were kind enough to send GPS data files that were not importing correctly and causing PhotoGPSEditor to ‘hang’. The program will now report the problem and not ‘hang’.

PhotoInfoEditor and PhotoGPSEditor are freeware programs from MMISoftware – continued development can be supported by making donations (PhotoInfoEditor Donation | PhotoGPSEditor Donation), or purchases at the MMISoftware GPS and camera stores.

I was in London (UK) this afternoon for a meeting and had some spare time, so I decided to pop in to the Apple iPod Store near Oxford Circus. The last time I visited the store (around Christmas time?), and boy does it seem to have changed….

Not a scientific survey, just an interesting observation. At present I am sitting on a GNER train, using the WiFi and working on PhotoInfoEditor – basically rolling the recent improvements made to PhotoGPSEditor into PhotoInfoEditor.

Received an interesting email the other day, it came out of the blue, and at first I thought it was Spam. However, the Spam filter hadn’t caught it (which it does in most cases), and the more I looked at it, the more intrigued I became…

The email was from a company called TrialPay (sign-up page), and they had a novel suggestion for a way that MMISoftware could make more money from its programs, and how users could get FREE licenses…

Wow! As part of some work on PhotoGPSEditor and PhotoInfoEditor in which I was looking at how maps were used in the programs (see this post and this post) I think I have solved the problem in which parts of the maps were not being correctly re-drawn on zoom and drag (this was also mentioned in a previous post over at TUAW (see their post)).

Well, yesterday I posted on the use the zoom button and markers in PhotoGPSEditor and PhotoInfoEditor. And looking back on some of the emails I have received about the maps in PhotoGPSEditor and PhotoInfoEditor, since the programs were released, I decided to revisit the use of maps and the underlying code.
