quickWebAlbum is a 'one trick pony' for producing photograph albums from a folder of jpeg files.
How do I use quickWebAlbum?
quickWebAlbum can be used in one of two modes. In both cases the folder containing the jpeg files is dropped on either the application icon, or the application window:
The created album can be found in a folder called 'Album' inside the folder that contained the original JPEG images.
JPEG settings: JPEG files will have any excess data (e.g. meta-data etc.) removed and quality and size of the JPEG changed to that indicated by the sliders in the application window (for most purposes a quality setting of 90 will produce a JPEG of suitable quality).
Thumbnail JPEG size (%): The position of the slider will determine to what size the original images will resized for use on the thumbnail page (only active when 'Automatic show' is not selected).
Main JPEG size (%): The position of the slider will determine to what size the original images will resized for use on either linked webpages or for use in the automatic slideshow.
Automatic show: If the check box is selected the program will produce an 'automatic' slideshow. If it is not selected the program will produce a thumbnail page and a series of linked pages.
Advanced settings (only available when 'Automatic show' is not selected): If this button is clicked a sheet will open that allows access to additional ('advanced') features which include:
The slider and advanced settings are remembered between application launches, therefore if a folder containing JPEGs, is dragged on to the application icon, and the application launched, and an album will be created using the previous used quality, 'advanced' and size settings.
Aliases, folders and symbolic links within the main folder containing the jpeg images are ignored and are not followed.
Version Checking: quickWebAlbum can automatically check for new versions when the program is started, or by selecting 'Version Check...' from the 'quickWebAlbum' menu.
It should be noted that no personal information is transmitted MMISoftware during the checking process. The process works just as if you had visited the MMISoftware website and manually checked for a change in version numbers. (Automatic checking can be turned off by selecting the checkbox. To turn automatic checking back on run a manual version check which will display the version check window.)
Please report any problems with the program to qwa-problememail@mmisoftware.co.uk
Why does an annoying window keep popping up when I launch quickWebAlbum?
If you have not registered quickWebAlbum, and you have used the program more than 5 times, then you will get a 'nag' screen when the application launches. The way to stop the window appearing is to register the program at MMISoftware for $19.95.
