Statistical Power Analysis for the Behavioral Sciences (Jacob Cohen)

This non-technical guide to power analysis in research planning provides users of applied statistics with the tools they need for more effective analysis. Expanded and updated, the book uses the same approach and organization as the previous edition, but includes a chapter covering power analysis in set correlation and multivariate methods, a chapter considering the effect size, psychometric reliability and the efficacy of "qualifying" dependent variables, and expanded power and sample size tables for multiple regression/correlation.

Elements of Statistical Reasoning

This text stresses conceptual development and the logic of statistics for use in the behavioural sciences. It is designed for those who need to evaluate statistical findings. Coverage includes estimation procedures, independent samples t-test, Steven's scales of measurements, power calculations and Pearson correlation coefficient. This issue has been updated to include Turkey's HSD test on factorial analysis of variance and Spearman's rho on assumption-free tests.

Understanding Statistics in the Behavioral Sciences

Taking an intuitive approach to presenting statistical theory, this text is more conceptually than computationally oriented, covering both descriptive and inferential statistics. The narrative of the book develops concepts first using prose, explaining calculations in simple language before introducing the formulas. Pagano's informal writing style should be easily comprehended by students, especially those who are not mathematically inclined.
