iCalMaker - an easy to use editor for ical and vcal calendar filesiCalMaker (download - purchase)Mac OS X universal binary (power pc & intel)

Do you need to convert iCal files to Palm desktop (or Palm to iCal); translate a comma- or tab-delimited file of dates to an iCal diary; translate plan text in an e-mail to an iCal appointment; sort your appointments and produce a plain-text output? If you do, then you need iCalMaker.

iCalMaker is an easy to use, $34.95 (USD), Mac OS X program for the rapid creation of vCal diary appointment files for use with iCal and other such applications (Screen shots - Download - Purchase).

iCalMaker is a text based appointment creation tool for use with iCal or to create appointment files which can be used for a range of tasks/functions (see the iCalMaker FAQ for some suggestions).

Using iCalMaker it is possible to:

  • use an 'intelligent' import of appointment data from the clipboard
  • import appointments from tab- and comma-delimited files
  • import data from a vCal file
  • import data from an iCal file
  • create appointments within iCalMaker
  • make appointments as single, or repeating (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) events with exclusion dates, and also as 'requests' which can be sent via e-mail
  • sort appoints by start date, end date, or summary (iCal file data is stored in 'order added' and not date)
  • import appointments directly from iCal (this also allows the easy merging of calendars)

Once the data has been imported, or created, it can be edited as required.

Data can be exported from iCalMaker:

  • to Mail (currently iCalMaker supports Apple's Mail program, Eudora, Mailsmith, PowerMail, and Entourage) as an attached iCal file
  • as a vCal file (for import in to Palm Desktop)
  • as an iCal file
  • directly to iCal
  • as a text based file with repeating appointments shown in the days they occur (useful for the creation of time tables, site visits, conference agendas)
  • as a tab-delimited format
  • as a comma-delimited format

iCalMaker is written in Cocoa and therefore Mac OS X native. Why not give it a try?

The software is shareware ($34.95 US, approx. £20 GBP)* and can be purchased through this site. A demonstration version can be downloaded. The demo version has no disabled features other than it can only process five appointments at a time and it starts to display a 'nag' screen after you have used the unregistered program more than 5 times.

(*where applicable local sales tax will be added)
